It's actually $15 a month and most of the addicted players I know spend a lot less money playing this game than others that don't, so you're wrong there.

Actually games like these teach you how to multi task, work in groups, strategise, problem solve and hand/eye cordination. If this is what some people enjoy doing and you aren't directly affected by it, you really shouldn't have a problem with it.

I enjoy the easy way out of misery comment. This world is full of misery and drama and there is no escape from it. It is all around us.. at all times.

The real world has crime, drugs and stds and if they are trying to escape this real world you're talking about, I don't blame them.

I agree with you. I played WoW for 2 years. I never raided though, and would never go out of my way to "socialise." I think that's sad. I think any kind of friendship over the internet is sad and false to be honest. I mean, you don't even know what they look like.

I probably played WoW too much, but like most people who defend it here, I found it fun and interesting. Was even better when my friends played too.

But last month I made another character and then realised. What was the point? It was fun while it lasted, but I cancelled my account because otherwise I'd never stop playing it.

Ever since I feel much better. More alive. I play my guitar a lot more now and am getting really good. Something to show for.

WoW is good, but the feeling doesnt last long, and in a few years youl look back and wonder why it is you passed up opportunities to see friends or why you neglected your partner.

I admit I got hooked, but in the end it just got boring and repetative.

I think this games even more addictive for those with social problems, who cant interact face to face so do so over a game.

However, going by what you say, what is the point in improving our lives? We're all going to die one day. Live for the moment. If you find WoW fun, then I think you should play it. But playing it excessively and neglecting people is when it's gone too far.

I like a good game just as much as the next guy, but there is a time to play and a time to work and nothing anyone can do in WoW can improve there lives or the lives of the people they love.
I see WoW as an excuse for people to forgo there daily responsibilities and get engrossed in a fake fantasy world. For 29 dollars a month they can forget about what is going on in the REAL world. Maybe it's too much for these people to handle. This is truly a lazy mans game that will get you nowhere in life and its only making the people at Blizzard rich.
We have all heard of, or probably know someone who plays this game too much and has wasted years getting fat and not improving themselves or the world they live in. I just fail to see the benefit of this game and why people spend so much time and money playing it.
No software program can take the importance of face to face human interaction, and put it on a computer screen. I tend to think that the people who play this game too much, have a problem with themselves and want to hide behind the mask of a character of there choosing instead of improving themselves and there lives. People tend to take the easy way out of there misery.
